WordOnyx Spelling Competition

The Word Onyx Spelling Competition for the year 2022 was an interesting event. It was the first-ever official competition to be organised by the company, and it was a success. The competition aimed to help children see the big picture of the game they have been playing at home and in school. Children also learnt how to remain aligned with the purpose and process of vocabulary building and word formation using anagrams.
Eighty-eight children from eight schools participated in the competition. The schools include: Allegretto International Schools, Ivories Premier Schools, De Terrosa International Schools, Oklyns Best Brain Academy, The Citadel International Schools, Jubycrest International Schools, Rorykerne International Schools, and Megafield International Schools.
Before the main event, all the children in the above schools were given an equal opportunity to learn in a demonstrative way how to play the Wordonyx game. Scores of practice were carried out, and the children became very comfortable with the game.
Out of the eighty-eight children that participated, twenty-eight children were selected for the quarter finals. This selection was based on an in-house competition that was held in each of the schools. The best kids were selected to represent their schools in the final events. And only the qualified children were invited to the final event.
The grand finale was held in Pleasure Park, Portharcourt, Nigeria, on June 11, 2022. All the schools were represented, but there were only three winners. The trophy was awarded to De-Terrosa International Schools. The second prize was awarded to Oklyns Best Brain Academy, while the third prize was awarded to Allegretto International Schools.
The winners were given a child fund, while the winning school (De Terossa International School) received a beautiful school website designed and managed by Wordonyx Resources Ltd.
