Honesty Brings Great Rewards      

There was once a kind and hardworking boy named Bolin. He lived with his parents in a small village. Although they were very poor, his parents taught him to tell the truth and never take what belonged to others. 

Sadly, when Bolin was only twelve years old, his father became seriously ill and passed away. Life became very difficult for Bolin and his mother. His mother worked long hours to provide food, while Bolin helped after school by doing small jobs around the village.  Even with all their struggles, Bolin never stopped studying because he dreamt of becoming a successful person one day.  

One afternoon, while walking home from the market, Bolin noticed a black leather bag lying beside the road. He picked it up and opened it. To his surprise, the bag was filled with a large amount of money and important documents. For a moment, he thought about how the money could solve all his family problems. But he remembered his father’s words: Honesty is more valuable than riches. 

Bolin searched for the owner and eventually found that the bag belonged to a wealthy businessman who had accidentally dropped it. Bolin returned the bag without taking a single cent. The rich man was amazed by the boy‘s honesty. He asked Bolin why he had returned the money even though he looked poor. Bolin replied, “The money is not mine. My father taught me that Honesty is the greatest virtue anyone can have. 

The businessman was deeply touched. After learning about Bolin’s late father and the hardships his family faced, he decided to reward the boy specially. Instead of giving him cash, he paid for Bolin to attend one of the best secondary schools in the country by offering him a full scholarship. He also promised to support Bolin’s education until he graduated. 

Bolin studied hard and became one of the best students in the school. Years later, he graduated with excellent results and became a respected engineer. He never forgot the lessons his father had taught him, and he spent his life helping others. 

MORAL LESSON:

Honesty, Integrity and Good character always bring lasting rewards.
